Newport Beach, California — May 13, 2026 — Lionheart Health announced today the release of its investigational NerveStim™ technology platform for clinical study research focused on peripheral nerve repair, neuromuscular recovery, and regenerative signaling enhancement.
NerveStim™ combines targeted bioelectric stimulation with a regenerative nutrient hydrogel matrix scaffold engineered to support cellular survival, stem cell homing, axonal regeneration, angiogenesis, and restoration of tissue signaling pathways associated with nerve recovery.
The platform is designed around multiple regenerative signaling pathways including:
- Sonic Hedgehog (Shh)
- LIM-domain muscle signaling proteins
- IGF-1
- SDF-1
- PDGF
- Klotho-associated regenerative pathways
The investigational therapy platform may also incorporate extracellular matrix support materials, growth factor delivery systems, bioelectric enhanced peptides, exosomes, platelet-rich fibrin (PRF), and regenerative hydrogel scaffolds designed to create a supportive microenvironment for nerve regeneration research.
“Current options for severe nerve injury and degeneration remain limited,” said Howard Leonhardt, Executive Chairman and Co-CEO of Lionheart Health. “NerveStim™ was developed to explore whether precisely controlled bioelectric stimulation combined with regenerative signaling proteins and nutrient hydrogel scaffolds can help improve the body’s natural nerve repair capacity.”
Preclinical and scientific rationale supporting the NerveStim™ platform include:
- Sonic Hedgehog signaling associated with axonal guidance and Schwann cell activation
- SDF-1 mediated stem cell homing and tissue recruitment
- IGF-1 support for neuronal survival and muscle preservation
- PDGF signaling linked to vascular and connective tissue repair
- Klotho-associated anti-inflammatory and regenerative effects
- Bioelectric signaling effects on cellular differentiation and protein expression
Lionheart Health believes the combination of regenerative biologics with targeted bioelectric stimulation may provide synergistic effects beyond any single modality alone.
Potential future investigational applications being explored include:
- Peripheral nerve injury
- Neuropathy
- Muscle denervation
- Sports injury recovery
- Post-surgical nerve repair
- Age-related neuromuscular decline
- Neurodegenerative support applications
The NerveStim™ research platform will initially be evaluated in observational and investigational clinical research settings outside the United States where permitted.
Lionheart Health emphasized that NerveStim™ is currently an investigational research technology and has not been cleared by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for treatment of disease.
The NerveStim™ platform expands Lionheart Health’s broader portfolio of bioelectric regenerative medicine technologies including:
- OrthoStim™
- BodStim™
- Brain Band™
- EyeCell™
- HairCell™
- SkinStim™
- ErectiStim™
- FemStim™
- PressureStim™
The company’s broader regenerative platform focuses on bioelectric controlled protein expression technologies intended to activate tissue repair pathways associated with healthspan, longevity, musculoskeletal recovery, and organ regeneration research.
