About this Venture

Discover our background, mission, and the world-class research driving our next-generation medical technology.

About ImplantStim & Mission

ImplantStim, formed in 2019, is a dedicated spin-out startup of the DentaCell Accelerator. Our mission is driven by the goal of achieving faster stability through accelerated bone integration. Supported by Leonhardt’s Launchpads innovation accelerator R&D labs and staff in Los Angeles and Utah, our team is focused on accelerating healing and reducing the pain associated with implantable devices. By utilizing bioelectric controlled protein expressions, we aim to minimize the discomfort typically linked to dental implants.

Intellectual Property & Licensing

Through our partnership with Leonhardt’s Launchpads and DentaCell Accelerator, ImplantStim™ holds an exclusive license to a massive portfolio of over 400 bioelectric and biologics-related healing patent and patent-pending claims. This extensive IP foundation allows us to lead in the field of bioelectric stimulation controlled protein expression for the accelerated healing of implanted devices.

Manufacturing & FDA Status

Our Generation I bioelectric stimulator is manufactured on an OEM basis by Mettler Electronics of Anaheim, California. This device already holds FDA 510K K113017 market clearance for improving blood circulation and providing pain relief, ensuring a high standard of quality and regulatory compliance.

/ – THE TECHNOLOGY

The Technology behind it

Discover the science and innovation driving our advanced solutions, designed to deliver safe, effective, and transformative results.

The Technology: How it Works

The ImplantStim™ technology is based on pioneering patents and patent pending:

  • Patented bioelectric signaling sequence for controlling OPG expression for osseointegration.
  • Patent pending bioelectric sequence for controlling KLOTHO expression.
  • Patented bioelectric signaling sequence for controlling RANKL expression.
  • Patent pending bioelectric sequence for controlling IGF1 expression.
  • Patented combination of bioelectics and biologics for accelerated healing.
  • Patent pending bioelectric PRF combination.

Also included is a patented method wherein the bioelectric stimulation device causes OPG release to enhance osteoblast formation and bone formation/re-mineralization for tooth stability.

Product Development Pipeline

The ImplantStim engineering team is developing three products:

  • ImplantStim™: Bioelectric stimulation controlled protein expressions for accelerated healing.
  • ImplantStim™ Wireless: Wireless electromagnetic energy controlled protein expressions for accelerator healing.
  • ImplantStim™ Plus: Bioelectric stimulation + IS-15 proprietary biologics composition for accelerated healing including patent pending Bioelectric PRF™ and regenerative fluid derived from amniotic fluid and exosomes.

ImplanStim Plus is our 2nd generation product development which combines bioelectrics with biologics, such as platelet rich fibrin for even more rapid healing and for treating the most severe cases.

Target Goals of the ImplantStim Therapy

  • 70% Improvement of bone formation (osteogenesis)
  • 400% Acceleration of the healing process via osteointegration by controlled bioelectric release of OPG and other healing promoting proteins.
  • 70% Reduction of pain an discomfort
  • 50% Increase in bone to implant (BIC)
  • 70% Increase in trabecular bone volume density
  • Reduce the need for repeat/repair surgeries

Dental Implant

Clinical Impact & Patient Suitability

The ImplantStim™ controlled bioelectric protein expressions technology is designed to actively stimulate, accelerate and improve osteogenesis (bone formation) by 70% and is intended to accelerate osseointegration (bone to implant connection) by up to 400%. Even proven successful in clinical studies, this will shorten the healing time by 2/3rds after implant placement as well as enabling the loading of the implant (crown placement) after only 1/3 of the usual time.

The ImplantStim™ technology may be a suitable alternative for patients who may not normally be considered good candidates for implants with poor bone quality from underlying diabetes or other autoimmune disorders as well as heavy smokers and drinkers.

Dentist

System Specifications

A system to selectively administer electrical stimuli to a patient, comprising: a programmable source of variable frequency, variable amplitude electrical signals, whereby the frequency is capable of being varied within a range of approximately 0.1 to 970 hertz and the amplitude is capable of being varied within a range of approximately 20 to 400 microamps; and a plurality of electrodes to connect the source to a patient, whereby the variable frequency, variable amplitude electrical signals are applied as electrical stimuli to a region proximate to the mouth of the patient to perform a predetermined protocol.

Common questions

Don’t see your question? Reach out and our clinical team will respond personally.

ImplantStim is a bioelectric mouthpiece connected to an external FDA 510K market cleared stimulator that delivers specific patented and patent-pending bioelectric signaling sequences for controlled protein expressions designed to accelerate dental implant healing, osseointegration (bone in growth) and to reduce associated pain and discomfort. ImplantStim ultimately decreases the required time for a Dental implant to be fully loaded in normal activities such as chewing food without pain. * (we plan to complete the 25 patient study with the handheld as it will be mostly impossible to have patients travel back to Dr. Lee’s office 3x per week for 8 weeks)

ImplantStim Wireless is a micro coil receiver crown placed on the top of a dental implant that communicates with an external electro magentic energy generator that serves to get the implant to deliver specific bioelectric signals to surrounding tissues to control release of specific proteins that accelerate dental implant healing, osseointegration (bone in growth) and reduces associated pain and discomfort.

ImplantStim Plus combines the benefits of precise bioelectric signaling controlled protein expressions with repeat delivery of biologics via a slow infusion re-fillable micro infusion pump placed on top of the dental implants. This micro pump is re-filled daily or weekly with the IS-15 implant healing acceleration composition comprised of a combination of these potential candidate components tooth pulp stem cells, bioelectric PRF, amniotic fluid, micro RNA gel, bone matrix, selected growth factors such as BMPs, nutrient hydrogel, oxygenated nanoparticles and bone matrix.

Controlled release of OPG promotes osseointegration (bone in growth). SDF1 and PDGF promote stem cell homing and healing. Promotes rapid regeneration of tissues.
